Mediapolis - 102 Points 9 Pins / Alburnett - 102 Points 8 Pins

Very close and a well-run tournament with Great Competition!!!

These are just a few of the boys who wrestled in this tournament and who stayed for the team standings. We had a total of 11 boys wrestle at this tournament ~ receiving seven 1st place, one 2nd place, two 5th place, and one 6th place!

**REMINDER TO PARENTS**

We need all donations for the End-of-Season Wrestling Party ASAP so that planning can begin!!! As a reminder, there are no registration fees associated with belonging to the Mediapolis Youth Wrestling Club, so without donations, we cannot have the event, or show the coaches our appreciation for the time and effort they put into coaching our young athletes. This reminder is not just for those who are planning on attending the end of year event ~ it is for all wrestlers!!! So, if you have not done so already, please submit your donations as soon as possible!!!

The Mepo Youth Wrestling Club had a very successful trip to Des Moines this past week-end for the 2008 AAU State Wrestling Championships! 15 of Mepo's young athletes qualified to compete at this year's State event, resulting in an outstanding outcome...

USA Nationals ~ Cedar Falls, IA

4/4/08 - 4/6/08

Four Mediapolis & surrounding club wrestlers took top placings at the 2008 USA National's held at the UNI Dome in Cedar Falls, IA on April 4 - April 6, 2008. Steven Holloway & Justin Dilks both took 3rd place and Drew Foster took 4th place for the Mediapolis Youth Club, while Stuart Holloway brought home the gold for West Burlington High School ~ placing 1st in his division. Reno World Championships ~ Reno, NV

4/4/08 - 4/06/08

Four Mepo Youth Wrestlers traveled to Reno, NV to participate in the 2008 Reno World Championships: 4th grader, Luke Erickson (5th place); 5th Grader, Cole Erickson (2nd place); 6th Grader, Adam Drain; and 7th Grader, Travis Delzell. There were approximately 2800 wrestlers from 34 states participating in this years event. While in Reno, the Mepo wrestlers met some of the best competition, and were even allowed to practice with one of the local Reno teams at Damonte Ranch High School the night they arrived (see group photo above). This group of young athletes at Damonte Ranch made a great impression on our wrestlers, as well as our coaches & parents who went along to the practice. We want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of the wrestlers, coaches & parents from Damonte Ranch who made our boys feel like part of their group. We appreciate your hospitality!!!

The Mepo group stayed at Circus Circus in Reno, and also had the opportunity to visit Virginia City, Carson City, Lake Tahoe, stepped into California, and seen many other great sights, including wild mustangs on a mountainside! (Additional photos from the trip coming soon).

Thank-You Damonte Ranch Wrestling Club ~ Reno, NV ~ for a great practice on 04/02/08! You have an awesome group of wrestlers & coaches and have outstanding facilities!!! We appreciate you allowing us to practice with what we consider to be the Best in Reno!!!

COACH SWAFFORD IS CURRENTLY ORGANIZING THE 2ND ANNUAL DUBUQUE WRESTLING CAMP CAMPING TRIP. THE CAMP IS SCHEDULED FOR JULY 28, 2008 THRU JULY 31, 2008.

LAST YEAR WE HAD 14 WRESTLERS ATTEND THIS CAMP AND WE CAMPED OUT (IN TENTS & CAMPERS) AT THE SWISS VALLEY CAMPGROUNDS IN DUBUQUE (SEE PHOTOS

ON THE PHOTOS PAGE UNDER "DUBUQUE CAMP").

COACH SWAFFORD IS LOOKING FOR ANY AND ALL PARENTS AND WRESTLERS INTERESTED IN ATTENDING THIS YEARS CAMP. THE COST OF THE WRESTLING CAMP, ITSELF, IS $40.

(SEE ATTACHED INFO SHEET ON THE CAMP). THE COST OF CAMPING FEES AND GROCERIES WILL BE SPLIT BETWEEN ALL ATTENDING, SO THE SOONER HE GETS A LIST OF INTERESTED ATTENDEES, THE SOONER AN EXACT FIGURE FOR THE TRIP CAN BE CALCULATED!
